Mrs. Haley Sulisz
Dundee Choral Conductor
Mrs. Sulisz earned her masters degree in Music Education from Michigan State University in 2013. She earned her bachelor's degree from Wayne State University in 2009 where she graduated with highest honors. While attending Wayne State, she was involved in the opera program, and was a member of several choirs including Women's Chorale, Choral Union, and Concert Chorale. Mrs. Sulisz taught choir at Lowell MS and HS from 2009-2012, and her students earned Excellent ratings at both Choral Festival and Solo & Ensemble Festival. During this time, she was the vocal music director for three musicals and conducted three extracurricular ensembles. She has taught voice and piano privately since 2006, and has sung in several professional and semi-professional choirs including "Carillon Women's Chorale," "Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra Choir," and "Sounding Light Chamber Choir." One of her favorite musical experiences was traveling to Ireland with the WSU Concert Chorale to participate in the Cork International Choral Competition.
Mrs. Sulisz is an active member of MSVMA, and serves on the Small Board for MSVMA as supervisor of the Central site State Choral Festival. She continues to seek ways to better herself as a musician and educator, and attends several music conferences each year. She recently sang in Mozart's Cosi fan tutte and Chinchester Psalms with the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra, as soprano soloist in Ken Medema's The Weaver, and as soprano soloist in Handel's Messiah with the "Tyner Chorale." She will also perform again as soloist in The Messiah in December, and with "Carillon Women's Chorale" as they sing with the Ann Arbor Symphony Orchestra this spring. Additionally, Mrs. Sulisz accompanies services for Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Tecumseh.
In her free time, Mrs. Sulisz volunteers to sing in various churches regularly either as a soloist or with her friends. She loves reading, composing, traveling, painting, sewing, spending time with family (especially baby Elearnora), playing with her chocolate lab, and of course, singing! A proud moment from the 2014 school year was having the combined 7th and 8th grade choirs debut the first piece she composed for choir. She lives with her husband, Greg, and daughter, Nora, in Tecumseh and is so happy to be beginning her seventh year as the music teacher for Dundee Community Schools.
