The Dundee Choir program proudly serves over 250 Dundee students from grades 5-12. We strive to reach our musical potential while learning vital life-skills through music. The skills learned in choir set students up for success and provide them with unique experiences they will cherish for a lifetime.
Dundee choir students participate in MSVMA choral festival, Solo & Ensemble, and Honors Choir. They also benefit from travel opportunities, and cultural field trips to musicals or operas. Several of our students have gone on to earn college choral scholarships, and pursue music as a career. Even if students do not intend to pursue a career in music, the skills learned in choir and learning how to rise to a challenge is something every child can benefit from. Students with any level of vocal experience level will be able to find a choir that is a perfect environment for them to grow as a musician. |

Singing in a choir is important! Here's why:
-Singing allows you to express yourself -Singing lowers stress and anxiety levels (click here for article) -Singing in a choir is scientifically shown to make you happier and give you a feeling of belonging (click here for article) -Performing music stimulates your entire brain in ways other activities do not. (Click here for article) -When you sing a wide variety of music (multicultural, pop, jazz, musical theatre, spirituals, etc.) you learn to relate to other cultures -When you sing in a choir, you belong to a close knit and supportive community all the way from 5th-12th grade -It is impossible to not make new friends in choir because you share a common passion -You get to belong to an organization you can be proud of -You get to perform in concerts and choir festivals and see your hard work pay off -You will learn how to read music and eventually write your own music -You will strengthen your leadership skills by becoming a choir officer -You will definitely improve your singing voice, posture, and breathing. -Singing daily helps boost your confidence -You will get to take part in all of the choir activities including: choir festivals, Cedar Point, movie nights, field trips, Madrigals, etc. 2016-2017 CHORAL HONOR ROLL CONGRATULATIONS to the following students for being accepted into the MSVMA Regional Honors Choir: Austin Neikirk, Anto Ritsema, Kirsten Whitacre, and Jacob VanBuren!
